Romans 6:1-7
What is Baptism?
An immersion in water (Mark 1:10; Acts 8:38-39; Rom. 6:3-4; Col. 2:12)
Act of penitent believer responding in faith (Acts 2:37-41; 8:12; 16:31-33; 18:8)
Submission to the will of God (Acts 2:38; 10:48; 19:5)
Why Does God Command Baptism?
For the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38)
Moment we call on name of Lord (Acts 22:16)
Unites us in death, burial and resurrection (Romans 6:3-5)
Put on Christ and become a part of His body (Gal. 3:26-27; Acts 2:47; I Cor. 12:13; Eph. 1:22-23)
What Happens When One is Baptized?
Sins are forgiven (Acts 2:38; 22:16; Mark 16:16)
Holy Spirit is received (Acts 2:38; 5:32)
God adds you to His church (Acts 2:47)
God gives you a new identity (Rom. 6:4; II Cor. 5:17; Gal. 3:26-27; Col. 1:13)
God assures your future resurrection (Rom. 6:5)
