Luke 10:25-37
We need to read the familiar more closely.
What is this story about?
What was the question asked by this lawyer?
What must I _____ to inherit eternal life?
The answer: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your strength and with all mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.”
Question: Can he or we do that?
So, how does he respond? (vs. 20)
Why that question? What should his question be?
Is the point of the story that he needs to be like the Samaritan, or that he is a sinful failure and needs God to help him be who he is called to be?
We are sinners, saved by the grace of God. We need to recognize that and respond accordingly.
