The Conquest of the Land
Judges 2:1-4 Realizing their sins, the people wept.
Judges 2:10-15 A generation who did not know the Lord, their sins enumerated, “the hand of the Lord was against them….”
Judges 2:16-23 The Lord raised up judges.
sin /oppression / deliverance / sin again
II Samuel 7:1 “…..the king was settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him……….”
A Summary of Israel’s sins:
Joshua 9, Joshua makes a peace treaty with the Gibeonites. Then Joshua has to defend Gibeon against attacks, Joshua 10. Then, a famine in the land because Saul broke the agreement, II Samuel 21.
I Samuel 8:6-22, Rejecting God’s rule, the people want a king. Hosea 13:11, “So in my anger I gave you a king, and in my wrath I took him away.”
I Kings 11:1-2; 7-13; 32, Solomon doesn’t end well. I Kings 11:32, “ But for the sake of my servant David and the city of Jerusalem which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, he will have one tribe.”
I Kings 12:26-33, “Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin”
I Kings 16:30-33, Ahab marries Jezebel.
II Kings 21:1-6, Manasseh might win the prize for being the worst. “He sacrificed his own son in the fire……”
