SERIES INTRODUCTION

It has rightly been said that the worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. Indifference is not hatred, anger, or ill will. Those things at least acknowledge the other person. Indifference says, “You don’t matter enough for me to even care.”

The opposite of indifference is passion - a fire in the soul that refuses to look away, to let go. Every one of us has something that we are passionate about. Something that stirs us. Something we both get out of bed and get into bed thinking about. We all have a soapbox.

Passion is what I think about when I study Nehemiah. If you are familiar with the book, you know that Nehemiah is a man with a soapbox, a man who has a holy passion. From returning to Jerusalem to rebuild a city, to calling the people back to God whenever they faltered, Nehemiah’s passion both changed a city and shaped a nation. In this series, we only scratch the surface in learning to passionately lead based on God’s calling.
